Kwi - Re-Construction Of Polar Sleep 1986-1987

"Constructed from fragments of reality particles collected with lo-fi recording equipment in first year or so of my exile in Belgium. I used to live for a while in sort of bohemian community, we shared two-bed-room apartment in Liege. the life was actually rather good: we had nothing to loose and therefore we were not that much worried about things, we used to go for a few hours play some music on the street, we made some money, bought some food in Moroccan shop and the rest of time everybody were stoned drawing, reading, playing music or simply sitting on the floor in the circle and laughing together. Bananas, peanut butter, honey and large flat Turkish bread was our favourite, aside lentils, of course. The community consisted from migrants from former Czechoslovakia mainly and some young drifters from streets of Europe.
This piece was created with very primitive technique of recording fragments on cassette recorder by simply pressing “Record” button and “Stop”. Sort of direct cut-up. Aside various tapes I was using toy sampler, found objects instruments, TV and voice - if I remember well. I imagined at that time broadcasting “radio free communication”. Here comes again my obsession with the idea of Freedom. In between 1st March 1986 and later 1987 was only a period in my life when I didn't really make any music, I was only imagining it. It feels like a dream from another life for me.
This piece is especially dedicated to Pavel "Pol" Albert who forced to reincarnate himself, R.I.P."
